Cantemus Cum Spiritu at Ely Cathedral 20th – 24th July 2026

Get ready for a musical adventure with Cantemus Cum Spiritu!

Designed for advanced singers and choir leaders, these events are your chance to come together, sing at an elite level, and have an unforgettable time. If you’re applying, make sure you’re either totally prepared musically or sight-read like a pro. We want everyone to hit the ground running so we can dive straight into making beautiful music.

As a guide to what we expect, you should be confident that you can sing through all pieces with no errors on arrival, and that, if you found that everyone else on your voice part failed to turn up, you would be able to confidently hold your line.

Our mission is simple: to help you fall in love with church music all over again and to bring that joy back to your own choirs. We start each event with the confidence that you know the notes and lyrics, so we can really get into the music and unleash your full expressive power.

Join us at Ely Cathedral from 20th – 24th July, for our summer residency.

Daily Programme : We’ll rehearse from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, then get ready for Evensong with a rehearsal from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and the service at 5.30pm.

We have space for 38 singers—12 Sopranos, 10 Altos, 8 Tenors, and 8 Basses.

The proposed programme will be Responses by Gabriel Jackson and Martin How (Canterbury Set 2), Settings of the Magnificat & Nunc Dimittis by Moore (Third Service), Murrill (in E), Batten (4th Service), Pärt, Stanford (Magnificat 8 Part Op 164, Nunc Dimittis Op10), Harwood – O How Glorious is the Kingdom, Wood – Hail Gladdening Light, Kelly – Rejoice, the Lord is King, Tallis – O Lord, Give Thy Holy Spirit, Balfour Gardiner – Evening Hymn.

Feel free to choose your own accommodation to suit your style and comfort, but we are exploring the possibility of school accommodation.
